About Amanda --AMANDA Flores
Amanda Flores studied at Trinity University, where she earned her degree in English and Creative Writing. The youngest poet to represent San Antonio at the National Poetry Slam competition, she has represented SA for seven consecutive years, performing all over the nation, including West Palm Beach, FL; St. Paul, MN; Madison, WI; Oneonta, NY; Charlotte, NC; and Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. She holds the titles of the 2011 & 2012 Grand Slam Poetry Champion of San Antonio, 2014 Grand Slam Champion of San Francisco, and has had the honor of being crowned 2013 & 2014's “La Voz” of San Antonio in SA’s first city-wide spoken word poetry contest. Amanda taught poetry to the undeserved youth community through San Anto Cultural Arts' creative programming; administered workshops throughout the city both independently and as part of Gemini Ink's Writers-In-Communities programming for over three years; and served as the creative writing instructor for senior citizens through Bihl Haus Art's GO! Arts program for four years. Her performances have been featured on Russel Simmons' All Def Digital Channel, the KABB FOX and WOAI Morning Shows, KENS 5 Great Day SA Sunday show, San Antonio Living, and KSAT 12’s Instant Replay sports segment during the 2013 NBA Western Conference semifinals. Amanda now lives and writes in New York City, where she has made her home in Brooklyn.
